Unbelievable Story Behind The Cameroon National Football Team

This Cameroon team did not have food to eat at the 2002 AFCON in Mali until the First Lady Mrs Chantal Biya came to their rescue, yet yet yet yet the team won the 2002 AFCON without conceding a single goal in playing time.

In a group with Ivory Coast, Togo and DR Congo, the Lions recorded 9 out of 9 points, scoring 5 goals.

In the quarterfinals, they saw off Egypt 1-0, and in the semis, they thrashed host nation Mali 3-0.

In the final, they came up against the toughest Senegal side in history, and won 3-2 on penalities after the game ended 0-0.

That win was Cameroon’s second consecutive AFCON win, following that against Nigeria in 2000. The entire team in the picture above (except Bill Tchato) was part of the 2000 adventure.

This Cameroon team went into the 2002 FIFA World Cup ranked 19th in the world and considered one of the outsiders.

The revelation was made by Samuel Eto’o, then-member of the team and now FA boss, in a speech last night.

Such great heroes!!!!
